Like the world itself, the travel blogging community is diverse and wonderful. Here, Nisbah Hussain from Five Adventurers picks out some of the writers that have inspired her on her blogging journey..
People always ask why I travel and the immediate quote that springs to mind is:
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” Mark Twain
I started my own blog to document our adventures and inspire families (from all groups in our community) to venture and seek adventures with their own children. We are a British Muslim family of South East Asian descent and travel across the globe with our little adventurers in tow.
The diversity of the blogging community is so diverse and one of the reasons why my wanderlust and bucket lists are increasing on a daily basis. There are so many fabulous bloggers from different backgrounds, countries that I thought I would compile a list of list of some travel bloggers which I love and admire, to show you some new travels to follow!
Samiya from Selims Raasta
I first met Samiya online when they were planning their epic road trip from the UK back to Bangladesh. However, life decided to take them down a different path and the initial travel plan was changed, with the family moving to New Zealand instead. The Selims have been working and living in NZ for the last 12 months and have had some fantastic travels across the country and will be returning to Bangladesh in 2016. I love the Selims’ travels as they have been journeying with their children since they were just a mere few weeks old and really travel to off the beaten path locations. Samiya write a fabulous blog, Selims Raasta and it is a treasure trove of travel stories from across the globe.
Elena from Muslim Travel Girl
I love reading Elena’s blog and she is a woman truly after my heart seeking to provide advice to travellers on how to travel without breaking the bank. Elena is a solo, female Muslim traveller which is a rarity to see even today. However, I love how Elena has not let this stop her from travelling and instead is trying her best to get other Muslims to travel much more widely then they currently are. Elena’s blog is a wonderful resource and she travels to some beautiful and unique countries, always showcasing how to get the most bang for your buck. Kach from Two Monkeys Travel Group
Kach writes a truly beautiful blog, Two Monkeys Travel, with her boyfriend Jonathan documenting their travels as digital nomads. Kach is from the Philippines and met Jonathan on their travels and they have been roaming the globe together since. I love their story of how they started their travelling journey by volunteering , learning to teach Yoga and Ayurvedic massages to start a fund to subsidise all their future travels. Kach’s stories always catch my eyes as they are truly adventurous, whether it’s hitch-hiking through Patagonia, or deciding to randomly set of on a trek through the Himalayas without little preparation or appropriate shoes. After reading their blog, I always have serious wanderlust and the photographs are truly beautiful!
Olivia Christine from O Christine
I recently discovered Olivia’s blog and was blown away by her attitude to life. Christine was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis at the age of 16 and despite a whole host of medical issues that this illness causes, she decided not to let her illness dictate how far she goes in life. Olivia left her corporate job and teaches yoga as she travels through the world, having already been to many places on my bucket list. Olivia has some great stories in her blog O Christine and I love that she is really showcasing that travelling is limited to a specific type of person and we can lead the life we chose to live.
Erick Prince from Minority Nomad
I admire travellers who have a travel goal in mind and show how they are working their way towards it. Erick is a former US Air Force aerospace engineer turned world traveller and aims to be the first African American to travel to every country in the world. What an amazing goal and as at the end of 2015, Erick was on country number 87, having travelled since 2013 to try and achieve this goal. I love to follow Erick’s travels and love the way he really discusses and documents for a global audience what it is like to be a minority traveller. You can follow Erick as he heads towards his goal over at Minority Nomad.
I hope I have given you some new blogs to follow and give you inspiration for travel ideas in 2016!
