May is a great time for Instagraming. The spring is well underway, the flights are still cheap, and the annual Great British Bank holidays are here. So what better time to launch a new monthly feature picking out some of the best of your Instagram pics?

Brollies from Burma

Cathy @mummytravels posted this colourful image from Myanmar, Burma. She marvels at how the umbrellas are produced with basic tools. And we do too! We also love how they fill the whole shot.

Colourful handmade umbrellas at Heho near Inle lake – it’s amazing how skilful the makers are with very basic tools to produce these parasols.

Yarns from the yardarm

Travel photo of the day 44. An interesting local character in Virpazar, Montenegro. He didn’t speak any English, so I couldn’t find out anything about him. But I really think he has the appearance of a gangster!
